Nutritious Breakfast Options from our Physios!

One of our physiotherapists Nicola has shared two of her favourite easy and nutritious breakfast recipes, as seen on our Instagram We’d love you to try them- tag us @claytonphysiotherapy so we can see!

Oat and Chia Seed Porridge

This quick and easy porridge is the perfect breakfast for a cold morning!

  • 1/2 cup oats
  • 2 tbsp chia of seeds
  • Dollop of Greek yoghurt (Nicola makes her own homemade yoghurt, but store bought is okay too!)
  • Your favourite fresh fruit to top it- Nicola has uses raspberries and banana
  • A hint of maple syrup- this is Nicola’s sweetener of choice for almost everything except baking

Cook the oats with water and add chia seeds. Add fruit, yoghurt and syrup before serving- Enjoy!

Homemade Granola

Homemade Granola is easy, nutritious and has far less than sugar than the store bought alternative

  • 2 cups of organic oats
  • 1/4 cup of pepitas
  • 1/4 cup of sunflower seeds
  • 1/2 cup of craisins (or other dried fruit)
  • Handful of flaked coconut
  • Handful of almonds/nuts (optional)
  • 2 tbsp of chia seeds
  • 2 tbsp of sesame seeds

Thoroughly combine all ingredients in a bowl with 2 tbsp of water and 1 tbsp of maple syrup or your choice of sweetener (honey, rice malt syrup etc). Spread out on a baking tray and bake for 20 mins at 160c and stir midway through baking. Allow to cool before storing in a air tight jar. It will last a week- Enjoy!
